  • Astros' Edwar Cabrera: Reassigned to minor league camp

    Cabrera was reassigned to minor league camp Monday.

    The move comes as no surprise after Cabrera signed a minor league deal with the Astros back in January. He spent 2015 with the Rangers organization, splitting time between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. Cabrera figures to open at the Triple-A level in 2016, where he'll continue to provide organizational depth.

    Cabrera signed a minor league contract with the Astros on Friday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

    Cabrera spent 2015 in the Rangers organization splitting time between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. His numbers aren't outstanding (3.68 ERA, 1.21 WHIP in 71 innings in Double-A), but he'll provide some organizational depth for the Astros.
