The small downside to Diamondbacks starting pitcher Trevor Bauer getting called up to the bigs is that the Futures Game loses a bit of starpower. Bauer's in the majors now, so he can't play in the Futures Game.

The good news for Diamondbacks fans is they get the best of both worlds. Bauer is in the majors and another heavily-hyped D-Backs' pitching prospect will be in the Futures Game: Tyler Skaggs (via official Futures Game Twitter account).

Skaggs, 20, is 5-4 with a 2.84 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 71 strikeouts in 69 2/3 innings for Double-A Mobile this season. He entered the season as a consensus top-20 prospect in baseball (he was 19, and seven of the guys ahead of him are now in the majors

There are two other roster changes. Starting pitcher Ariel Pena (Angels system) will replace Edwar Cabrera of the Rockies. Pena, 23, is 5-4 with a 2.94 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 86 strikeouts in 88 2/3 innings in Double-A. Also, catcher Rob Brantly (Tigers) will join the U.S. team, replacing injured catcher Travis d'Arnaud (Blue Jays). Brantly, 22, is hitting .303/.350/.417 with three homers, 29 RBI, 16 runs and 16 doubles in 66 games between Double-A and Triple-A.
