Although like the rest of the NBA, the New York Knicks have an off night for Thanksgiving on Thursday, they are quite busy around the holiday as they play the night before and after. This apparently is preventing Derrick Rose from flying home to Chicago to be with his family on Thanksgiving. But Rose won't be spending the holiday all alone thanks to the hospitality of his teammate Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony and his family are hosting Rose on Thanksgiving but there was never a formal invitation given. Rose just simply invited himself over.

From Ian Begley of ESPN:

"My mom and everybody, my son, will be back in Chicago. So yeah, I'm thankful I have somewhere to go," Rose said of heading to Anthony's for the holiday.

"I just asked where his family's (going) and asked if it was cool if I came over. He said yeah so I don't think I have to bring anything but an appetite. Yeah, that's the only thing I have to bring right now."

This seems just another extension of Anthony's role as a leader on the Knicks. But Rose should know that the rules of being a good teammate are similar to being a good guest.

Which means, Rose should probably bring something, even if it is a token bottle of wine or dessert that won't even be consumed. Because just the simple gesture of bringing something over when attending a dinner at a friend's is always greatly appreciated. Perhaps Rose will learn the importance of this gesture before he heads over to Anthony's for Thanksgiving.
