Shortly after the New York Knicks drafted Kristaps Porzingis with the No. 4 overall pick, Carmelo Anthony took to Instragram to praise the selection. Anthony even called Porzingis "a steal" at time which now is beginning to look very true.

Porzingis has only gotten better as the season progresses and Anthony has been loving every minute of the rookie's rise. Anthony can even envision the two bringing a championship to New York.

From Marc Berman of the New York Post:

Anthony, who has four years left on his contract, recently told confidants about Porzingis: “He’s gonna lead this organization long after I’m retired. Hopefully we can hoist one or two [championship trophies] before that happens.’’

“We’re just building it,’’ Anthony said of their relationship. “I’m here to help him and use my experience and help him get his feet wet, and he’s doing a pretty good job. I don’t want any credit for that. He’s doing a good job on his own. Learning the game and getting a feel for the game. You can see each game he’s getting better.’’

Porzingis is still raw but he is looking like the future of the Knicks. However, it is hard to see the Knicks winning a championship in the next several years. The Warriors look indestructable and the Cavs will probably still have LeBron James. Unless New York can add another superstar level player to their roster, Anthony's dream of winning a championship with Porzingis will only be a figment of his imagination.
