The Lakers announced Monday night that after meeting with a specialist, point guard Steve Nash will miss two weeks with nerve root irritation.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Nash was examined today by back specialist Dr. Robert Watkins, who diagnosed Nash as having nerve root irritation.  Treatment will include an epidural block, which Nash is expected to receive tomorrow, and Nash is expected to be out of action for a minimum of two weeks.  He will be re-evaluated in approximately ten days, and an update will be given at that time.

Nash told reporters Sunday night after their disappointing loss to the Wolves at home that he was frustrated with his own body. Nash had similar issues last spring before the Lakers' playoff series against the Spurs and required a epidural then as well. The big takeaway from the statement is that the Lakers will be without two of their three best players as Kobe Bryant continues to try and recover from Achilles tendon surgery, and that this isn't a long-term fix.

This is a short-term solution. Nothing will be fixed, they're just hoping Nash feels better. That doesn' tend to inspire confidence. Nash has battled through so much in his career already, you never want to count him out, but the signs are not good.
