Lakers' Marcelo Huertas: Traded to Houston, will be waived
Huertas was traded to the Rockets on Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports.
The Lakers swapped Huertas for Tyler Ennis, and the expectation is that Huertas will be waived by the Rockets in short order, saving the team a bit of cash and opening up another roster spot. Assuming that happens, Huertas will hit the free agent market, but he could have trouble garnering significant interest as a 33-year-old shooting 36.8 percent from the field and 2.1.1 percent from three in limited action this season.

Lakers' Marcelo Huertas: Only two appearances in last eight games
Huertas (coach's decision) didn't see the floor in a 116-108 loss to the Wizards on Thursday.
Huertas has only appeared in two of the Lakers' last eight games, and now that starting point guard D'Angelo Russell is healthy again, it will only be more difficult for the 33-year-old to crack the rotation. Most of Huertas' opportunities going forward figure to come in garbage time during the fourth quarter of blowouts.

Lakers' Marcelo Huertas: Shakes off flu, plays 12 minutes
Huertas (illness) logged four points (2-4 FG, 0-2 FT) and two assists across 12 minutes Saturday in a 113-97 loss to the Clippers.
Huertas ended up missing the Lakers' practice Friday while battling flu-like symptoms, but he made enough improvement prior to Saturday's game to suit up. The point guard has now seen double-digit minutes in the past two games, but both were byproducts of the Lakers being blown out. Huertas won't be included in coach Luke Walton's rotation in competitive contests.

Huertas (illness) is questionable for Saturday's tilt against the Clippers, Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News reports.
Huertas generally only sees minutes when there's backcourt injuries or garbage time for the Lakers, so this designation will make it even less likely that he'll touch the floor. He's played in 17 games for the Lakers this season, averaging 11 minutes when he does.

Huertas did not participate in Friday's practice due to flu-like symptoms.
Huertas has only managed to see time in the Lakers' rotation when the team has dealt with backcourt injuries or in garbage time minutes. Even if Huertas is ruled active for Saturday's game against the Clippers, he is more than likely to not see the floor after appearing in just five of Los Angeles' last 18 games.

Huertas provided two points (0-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three assists and one rebound across 15 minutes in a 134-94 loss to the Spurs on Thursday.
All of Huertas' minutes came when the Lakers were trailing big, and the 33-year-old's 0-of-6 showing from the field did little to help his case for gaining more consistent playing time in the future. Huertas has made only five appearances during the team's last 18 games, averaging just 7.8 minutes per contest.

Huertas started at point guard and produced 10 points (3-7 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven assists, five steals, and three rebounds across 31 minutes in Wednesday's 134-95 loss to the Rockets.
The Lakers' mounting injuries in the backcourt had already allowed Huertas to enter the rotation over the preceding three games, but he took on his first start of the season Wednesday. While he filled up the stat sheet in a number of areas, Huertas also had six turnovers, which certainly didn't help the Lakers avoid the blowout loss. D'Angelo Russell (knee) and Nick Young (calf) are said to be making progress with their respective injuries and could be back as soon as early next week, so Huertas looks like little more than a short-term pickup in deep leagues.

Lakers' Marcelo Huertas: Will start Wednesday
Huertas will get the start at shooting guard in Wednesday's matchup against the Rockets, Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
The Lakers are opting to shake up their starting backcourt with D'Angelo Russell, Jose Calderon, and Nick Young sidelined. Rookie Brandon Ingram and veteran Metta World Peace started in the previous game, but head coach Luke Walton has opted to replace them with Jordan Clarkson and Huertas for Wednesday's game. The start will be Huertas first of the season, and he will seemingly see see an increase from the 9.8 minutes per game he has been averaging. However, Lou Williams should still see the majority of the minutes at shooting guard from off the bench.

Neither Huertas nor Jose Calderon saw the floor Tuesday, as the Lakers have frequently used starter D'Angelo Russell and sixth man Jordan Clarkson as their primary point guards in competitive contests. Huertas has made just three appearances on the season, with only one coming in the team's last 10 games.

Huertas managed 11 points (4-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists and two rebounds across 18 minutes in Tuesday's 109-106 preseason loss to the Blazers.
The 33-year-old managed his first double-digit scoring performance of the exhibition slate while receiving his highest amount of minutes of the first three preseason games. Huertas' path to playing time in the coming season appears muddled at best, given the presence of newly-acquired veteran Jose Calderon in front of him. Calderon sat out Tuesday for rest purposes, but when he's available off the bench, it doesn't seem likely that Huertas will be included in coach Luke Walton's rotation.

Lakers' Marcelo Huertas: Re-signs with Lakers
Huertas has re-signed with the Lakers on a two-year deal, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports.
After playing 14 seasons overseas in Europe and South America, Huertas joined the Lakers last season, solidifying himself as a backup point guard. In 53 games he averaged 4.5 points and 3.4 assists in 16 minutes per game. With the addition of Jose Calderon, Huertas's playing time will likely take a hit, as he'll fall to the third point guard on the depth chart, making his fantasy value less than attractive in all but the deepest of leagues.
