More NFL offseason: Mock Drafts | Prospect Rankings | Pro days | Top free agents
Preseason football may be some four months off, but the NFL wants to give you time to get adequately pumped for what amounts to glorified practices. That's right: On Wednesday, the league announced the 2014 preseason schedule in all its meaningless glory.
Meaningless may be an overstatement; the preseason is when jobs are won and rosters are made. It also provides hapless fans of hopeless franchises a chance to feel like this is the year.
We'll get a better sense after the draft of which games will be worth your attention, but in the meantime we'll pencil in these Week 1 matchups as noteworthy, too (at least for the first couple of series, anyway).
* Bills vs. Giants: It'll be the closest thing we've had to football since the Super Bowl. Hey, beggars can't be choosers.
* Seahawks vs. Broncos: Denver and Peyton Manning will have their revenge. At least for the one series they're on the field.
* Patriots vs. Redskins: We'll get our first glimpse at a healthy Robert Griffin III playing in Jay Gruden's new offense.
* Panthers vs. Patriots: Looking forward to the Luke Kuechly and Rob Gronkowski halftime reenactment.
And here's the entire 2014 NFL preseason schedule:
