The NFL made it clear that its not going to tolerate eye poking. The league announced on Monday that Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib has been suspended one game for the eye gouge he gave to Colts tight end Dwayne Allen on Sunday.

Late in the fourth quarter of the Broncos' 27-24 loss, the Colts were about to face a pivotal third down, but they never had to because Talib was hit with an unnecessary roughness penalty for poking Allen in the eye.

After the game, Talib said that he didn't even remember poking Allen.

"I don't even remember, man," Talib told USA Today Sports. "Just mad. I can't even remember, man. I don't know."

Merton Hanks, the NFL's vice president of football operations who hands down punishments, ruled that Talib's action "placed his opponent at unnecessary risk of injury and should have been avoided."

Talib is appealing the ruling and should know his fate by the end of the week.

If Talib loses his appeal, then the Broncos corner will miss this Sunday's game against Kansas City. Talib also wouldn't be allowed to attend any team functions, meetings or practices until Nov. 16.
