The Denver Broncos lost more than just the game to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday night. They also lost the services of one of their best defensive players for an extended period of time.

Defensive lineman Derek Wolfe told Denver7 that he suffered a hairline fracture in his elbow during the game. He will undergo a CT scan Monday to determine the length of his absence, though NFL.com is already reporting that he could miss a month.

"I wanted to go back in the game, but they wouldn't let me," Wolfe told Denver7. "I am not sure yet how long it will be."

Wolfe was enjoying an excellent first half of the season before suffering the injury, as he had 30 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 40 quarterback pressures, and a league-high run stop percentage among 3-4 defensive ends, per Pro Football Focus. He is currently in the first year of a four-year, $36.7 million contract signed during last season's run to the Super Bowl.
