Warren Sapp is a Hall of Fame defensive tackle who spent 13 seasons manhandling offensive linemen. On Wednesday, Sapp was on a lobstering charter off the Florida Keys and found himself in a different kind of fight -- with a shark.

And let's just say the shark won.

"Warren Sapp attacked by a shark while lobstering," Two Conchs Charters wrote on Instagram, later adding: "The shark wanted the lobster just as bad as Sapp. ...Sapp got the lobster and the Shark got his lick in too."

Contacted by the Tampa Bay Times' Greg Auman, charter captain Jack Carlson texted: "It's simple. He was lobstering with me and a shark bit Sapp while he was grabbing the lobster. He's OK."

Carson said Sapp "may need stitches" (editor's note: may), but said that the injury didn't end the charter prematurely.

"We bandaged it up, put some gauze on there, some black electrical tape and hit a couple more spots, then headed in," the captain said.

Sapp also tweeted about the encounter:

Sapp was taken in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft, and spent his first nine seasons with the Buccaneers. He played for the Raiders from 2004-2007. In 2013, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
