Chicago Bears LB Brian Urlacher will miss three games, if not the remaining four regular-season games, as a result of a strained hamstring according to a Chicago Tribune report.
The report said the goal is to have Urlacher ready to go for the playoffs, provided the team makes them.
The injury to the Urlacher, a 34-year-old veteran of 13 seasons, was reported as a Grade 2 strain. The Bears haven't officially announced anything about Urlacher's injury. The report cited two unnamed sources but said Urlacher refused to speak about the injury.
A tipoff to the severity of Urlacher's injury, suffered while chasing Seattle QB Russell Wilson in overtime on Sunday, came in the re-signing of middle linebacker Dom DeCicco on Tuesday to a two-year contract, placing him on the active roster. LB Patrick Trahan was waived/injured.
DeCicco was Urlacher's backup on the depth chart last year and finished with 17 special teams tackles, but he was cut after training camp. Nick Roach actually is expected to replace Urlacher in the middle with Geno Hayes playing strong side linebacker.
The Bears also waived practice squad QB Matt Blanchard and picked up RB Harvey Unga for the practice squad. Unga had been cut earlier in the year.
