TEs Antonio Gates and Dante Rosario’s first sport was basketball. Gates only played basketball in college for Kent State and Rosario was recruited away from hoops to play football at Dayton High School in Oregon. Rosario believes basketball experience helps develop the athleticism for the TE position. “We are asked to block on the line and out in space,” Rosario said. “We have to be just as good as the receivers running routs. Those are all things that translate over to basketball.” Gates will host the 11th Annual Shoot to Cure HD (a basketball free-throw fund raiser for Huntington Disease) on Friday night at Chargers Park. “I’ll be there,” Rosario said.
