Tom Johnson: Officially announces retirement
Johnson has officially retired from the NFL after declining to play under a minimum salary, per Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Johnson ends his career with 186 total tackles, 25.5 sacks and 87 hits on the quarterback. Though not necessarily a threat on the field, Johnson was an underrated run stuffer who was able to cause havoc in the backfield. The defensive tackle played one game with Seattle before being cut in 2018, not playing in the 2019 season.

Vikings' Tom Johnson: Has 2.5 sacks Sunday
Johnson had five total tackles, 2.5 sacks and four QB hits in Sunday's win at Detroit.
Johnson hadn't recorded a sack before Sunday, but it looks like Minnesota's pass rush is finally clicking with Everson Griffen (1.5 sacks) back to his prior form in his second game back from taking time off for mental health issues. Johnson played 31 of the defense's 71 snaps as he's among a rotation at defensive tackle.

Johnson was a limited participant last week and was inactive for last Thursday's loss to the Rams with the ankle issue. The 34-year-old should return to his rotational role on the Vikings defensive line for Sunday's game at Philadelphia.

Vikings' Tom Johnson: Wears questionable tag
Johnson (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice and is questionable for Thursday's game against the Rams, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports.
Johnson, who re-signed with the Vikings after the Seahawks released him before Week 2, worked in a reserve role in Week 3 against the Bills and recorded two tackles. With the same usage expected against the Rams on Thursday, Johnson shouldn't be considered in IDP settings.

Johnson -- who signed with the Vikings on Sept. 18 -- seemingly injured his ankle during Sunday's contest against the Bills. Johnson signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Vikings on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com reports.
Johnson was released by the Seahawks last week, who had hoped to re-sign him. Minnesota swooped in and claimed Johnson, adding the veteran defensive tackle to an already-sturdy front seven. Johnson will serve as a backup to Linval Joseph, and could earn a rotational defensive role after learning the Vikings' playbook.

Johnson will be released by the Seahawks on Saturday, Tom Pelissero reports.
Johnson's release is a surprising move by Seattle, given that the veteran defensive tackle's salary is already guaranteed. The Seahawks simply need the roster spot due to a slew of injuries, with Doug Baldwin (knee), D.J. Fulker (hamstring) and Shaquill Griffin (thigh) among players unlikely to suit up for Monday Night Football. It's likely that Seattle will re-sign Johnson later in the season, but another team conceivably could lure away the defensive tackle, who is now a free agent.

Seahawks' Tom Johnson: Signs contract with Seattle
Johnson signed a one-year, $2.7 million contract with the Seahawks on Friday, Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reports.
Seattle is known to be in the market for defensive linemen and so far it seems the team is looking to save money at the position. Johnson comes over from Minnesota after making 62 regular-season starts for the Vikings over the past four seasons, racking up 107 tackles and 16 sacks in the process. He doesn't have a lot of competition for a starting spot as the Seahawks' roster currently stands considering only Jarran Reed and Nazair Jones (ankle) are the only other defensive tackles under contract for 2018.

Vikings' Tom Johnson: Racks up 32 tackles in 2017
Johnson recorded 32 combined tackles and two sacks during the 2017 season.
Johnson started at defensive tackle for the Vikings, clogging up holes and contributing to a Minnesota run defense that ranked second in the NFL. The veteran nearly doubled his tackle output from 2016 and did not miss any games due to injury. The 33-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason and should find a role as a run-stopper somewhere if he wishes.

Johnson had just one tackle in Monday's win over the Saints. He played 45 of 62 snaps on defense.
Johnson played more snaps then all but two games last year, which shows he's back to full strength after missing the last two games of last season due to a hamstring injury. His value is in stuffing the run, which doesn't translate to fantasy value in most leagues.
