Anderson was hired by the Bengals as an assistant wide receivers coach Monday, indicating his retirement as a player, Tyler Dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Anderson last played during the 2017 season when he suited up in five games for the Bills and recorded three tackles. The 34-year-old will aim to help the Bengals' rebuild.

Anderson (forearm) was officially activated from injured reserve Thursday, Mike Rodak of ESPN reports.
Anderson was originally placed on IR in early October with a fractured forearm and was designated to return mid-December. He likely wouldn't have been activated if he wasn't going to suit up Sunday against the Dolphins, which is a must-win game for the Bills in order to stay in postseason contention. However, Anderson won't be much of an IDP prospect, considering he's deployed almost exclusively on special teams.

The Bills designated Anderson (forearm) to return from injured reserve Tuesday.
Anderson, who was placed on IR prior to Week 5 with the fractured forearm, will resume practicing with the team Wednesday and will be eligible to return for the Bills' final two games. Due to the safety's lengthy layoff, it's unclear if he'll be able to give it a go Sunday against the Patriots, but the Week 17 matchup with the Dolphins seems like a more reasonable target. If Anderson is activated from IR, he would likely see most of his action on special teams rather than in the secondary.

Bills' Colt Anderson: Held out Thursday with foot injury
Anderson aggravated his foot injury during pregame warmups Thursday and was subsequently held out of the contest, Sal Capaccio of WGR 550 reports.
This is concerning for the Bills' already shaky secondary depth, considering Anderson had already spent a large chunk of the preseason on the PUP list with the foot ailment. He came off the PUP on Sunday and resumed practicing, but Anderson tweaked the injury while warming up for Thursday's game against the Eagles. Considering the aggravation of Anderson's injury comes just days after being activated, Thursday's development is especially unwelcome news.

Anderson, who has missed all of training camp to date with a foot injury, was removed from the PUP list Sunday and will begin practicing again, Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports.
The Bills are pretty set as far as starting safeties go with Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, but Anderson is a strong special teams player and has a good chance of landing a roster spot now that he's healthy again.
