Sam Barrington: Reaches injury settlement with Bills
Barrington (undisclosed) was released by the Bills with an injury settlement Monday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official website reports.
Barrington, who signed with the Bills just prior to camp, was never a strong candidate to land on the final roster. He was ultimately waived/injured by the team, and subsequently reverted to their injured reserve. He now avoids spending the entire 2017 season on the IR, and will be free to look for a new opportunity once he regains his health.

Sam Barrington: Inks deal with Bills
Barrington signed with the Bills on Tuesday, Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News reports.
Barrington spent last season with the Saints, appearing in five games and recording two combined tackles in limited action. The 2014 seventh-round pick will look to secure a spot on the final roster out of training camp.

Saints' Sam Barrington: Signs with Saints
Barrington signed a contract with the Saints on Wednesday, Herbie Teope of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
A seventh-round pick by the Packers in the 2013 NFL Draft, Barrington spent his first three seasons in Green Bay, before signing with the Chiefs at the start of the 2016 campaign. However, he only took the field for two games with the Chiefs before being waived, as the team had more pressing needs and Barrington was unable to impress in limited action. That said, the Saints needed some additional help at middle linebacker with James Laurinaitis (quad) heading to IR, so look for Barrington to offer some much needed depth.

Sam Barrington: Released by Chiefs
Barrington was released by the Chiefs on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Barrington was brought in by the Chiefs just before the regular season began but was released on Tuesday in order to make room for newly-signed Bishop Sankey on the roster. The 26-year-old failed to record a statistic in two games with the Chiefs and will now look to land on a team in need of linebacker depth.

The early portion of Barrington's career has been plagued by injuries, and it appears that his inability to stay on the field ultimately led to his breakup with Green Bay. With Josh Mauga on IR, Barrington will have the opportunity to see valuable time at inside linebacker in 2016.

Barrington's release is one of the bigger surprises from the Packers, who elected to only keep three inside linebackers. Barrington (ankle) recorded a solo tackle for loss in Thursday's preseason game against the Raiders, his first game action since last September.
Barrington needed almost a year to recover from the ankle injury that cut short his 2015 campaign, but with him suiting up and playing Thursday, he has made it all the way back. He's competing with Blake Martinez and Jake Ryan for snaps at the two inside linebacker spots in the Packers' base defense.

Barrington (ankle) has been lifted from the Packers' PUP list and will return to practice Tuesday night.
Barrington was placed on injured reserve following Week 1 of 2015, and has been slowly working his way back since. Now healthy, he'll spar with rookie Blake Martinez and Jake Ryan for the two open inside linebacker jobs in the middle of Green Bay's defense.
