  • Terrance West: Released by Saints

West was released by the Saints on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

West gained 26 yards on two carries in Friday's preseason game against the Cardinals, but it was too little too late in his bid to help replace Mark Ingram (suspension) early in the season. Jonathan Williams has jumped out in front as the clear favorite to work alongside Alvin Kamara for the first four weeks of the campaign. West may have a hard time finding work in the NFL this year.

  • Saints' Terrance West: Rebounds in brief action

West took two carries for 26 yards in Friday's preseason game against Arizona.

West bounced back from a five-carry, 10-yard effort in the first week of the preseason, but his lack of involvement prior to the fourth quarter suggests he's on the outside looking in. Jonathan Williams is making a strong case to work alongside Alvin Kamara while Mark Ingram serves a four-game suspension, and it probably doesn't make sense to keep a third- or fourth-string running back in the mold of West, who doesn't offer much as a pass catcher or special teamer. Williams, Shane Vereen and Boston Scott are all better fits behind the explosive Ingram-Kamara duo.

  • Saints' Terrance West: Rushes five times

West rushed five times for 10 yards in Thursday's 24-20 win over the Jaguars in the preseason opener.

West's first carry didn't come until the two-minute drill to end the first half. After that, he saw some work over the course of the second half, yet failed to produce much. While fellow tailback and competitor Shane Vereen sprinkled in his five touches over the same span, his eight total yards left little separation between the two.

  • Saints' Terrance West: Reaches deal with New Orleans

West signed a contract with the Saints on Wednesday, Herbie Teope of NFL.com reports.

West spent parts of the last three seasons with the Ravens, but saw action in just five contests during the 2017 campaign while tumbling down the depth chart. The Saints will give West an opportunity to prove he still has something left in the tank, and he could provide some added experience in the backfield behind Alvin Kamara while Mark Ingram (suspension) sits out the first four games. How the snaps are divvied out behind Kamara will depend on the performances of West and the team's young stable of reserve backs during training camp.

  • Terrance West: Takes visit with Eagles

West is visiting the Eagles on Tuesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Following a career-best 2016 season in which West ran for 774 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games, he went on to appear in just five games for the Ravens in 2017 and carried the ball 39 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles likely are satisfied with their stable of running backs, but they could view West as potential insurance for an injury.

  • Ravens' Terrance West: Turns in disappointing season in contract year

West appeared in just five games in 2017, rushing 39 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns and adding two receptions for 23 yards.

The four-year veteran heads to free agency at an unfortunate time as West put together the worst season of his career to date in 2017. West entered as the favorite to be the Ravens' primary back on standard downs after Kenneth Dixon went down with a season-ending meniscus injury, but he surprisingly fell behind Alex Collins -- who was signed to the practice squad just before the regular season -- and Javorius Allen. West will be 27 when the season begins, but he still has the size and physical running style to garner some attention from teams in need of a short-yardage back. That said, his days of being a starter-level option for teams is likely over.

  • Ravens' Terrance West: Back in the mix Saturday

West is active for Saturday's game against the Colts, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.

West, who was last active back on Oct. 8, adds depth to the team's Week 16 backfield, but we wouldn't expect him to make a big fantasy splash Saturday, with Alex Collins, Danny Woodhead and Javorius Allen also in the mix.

  • Ravens' Terrance West: Healthy scratch Week 15

West (coach's decision) is inactive Week 15 against the Browns.

West was absent from the injury report this week, so he'll be a healthy scratch yet again for the Ravens. Look for Alex Collins to be the lead rusher in Baltimore, with Danny Woodhead active on passing downs and Javorius Allen also in the mix.

  • Ravens' Terrance West: Inactive again

West (calf) is inactive for Sunday's game in Pittsburgh.

With Alex Collins locked in as the lead back and Danny Woodhead handling passing downs, the Ravens prefer to use Javorius Allen as their No. 3 running back. Allen is better than West in the passing game and also plays special teams, but the Ravens might actually turn to West as the new lead runner if Collins were to suffer an injury. As for the immediate future, West will once again be a healthy scratch.

  • Ravens' Terrance West: Not on injury report

West (calf) isn't on Wednesday's injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Lions.

West's inactive status the past couple weeks seemingly had more to do with his role than his calf injury. He may now have an opening to rejoin the Baltimore backfield, as Alex Collins missed Wednesday's practice with a calf issue of his own. West likely would be returning to a limited role if active, however, as he hasn't played since Week 5 and didn't do much early in the season.

  • Ravens' Terrance West: Inactive Monday

West (calf) is inactive for Monday night's game against the Texans.

West was able to practice fully all week, but he'll remain sidelined Monday, with Alex Collins, Javorius Allen and Danny Woodhead currently ahead of him on the Ravens' RB depth chart.
