Patriots' Marcus Martin: Links up with New England
The Patriots signed Martin to their active roster Monday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
As starting center David Andrews continues to deal with a calf issue, the Patriots have decided to add veteran depth at the position. Martin has suited up twice for the Lions in 2020, but the team decided to part ways with the 27-year-old lineman Dec. 22. For his career, Martin has played in 28 career regular-season games while logging 24 starts.

Martin (toe) spent the season on IR after tearing a ligament in his right big toe, Tyler Dragon of DallasNews.com reports.
Martin suffered his injury during the Cowboys' first preseason game back in August and wasn't able to return during the season. It's unclear how long his recovery will take or if he'll miss any part of the team's offseason program. He'll set his sights on securing a role as a backup lineman with the team once he's back to full strength.

Martin didn't play at all in 2017, but he'd flashed first-team potential earlier in his career. He's been operating as a backup while with Dallas. Martin is nearing a deal with the Cowboys, Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Martin is the likely replacement for Joe Looney, who recently became a free agent. The 24-year-old guard will provide needed depth along the Cowboys' offensive line, and with Jonathan Cooper departing the team this offseason, Martin could have a chance to contend for the starting left guard position in 2018.

Martin was claimed off waivers by the Browns on Thursday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Martin was waived by the 49ers on Wednesday after ending the 2016 season on injured reserve due to an ankle injury. Martin has 24 starts to his name over the first three years of his career, but, with the acquisition of J.C. Tretter, the Browns are likely set at center. Look for Martin to start at guard or be a top backup for the team in 2017.
