Demetri Goodson: Working in scouting
The Packers promoted Goodson on Wednesday, hiring him as a college scout for the Midlands region.
Goodson had his playing days come to an end following the 2018 season, when he joined Green Bay -- the team that drafted him in the sixth round in 2014 -- as a scouting intern in 2019. He apparently impressed in that position and will now receive a full-time role with the organization's front office. Over his five-year professional career, the cornerback saw action in parts of three seasons. He played 26 NFL games in total, recording 29 tackles and two pass breakups.

Goodson was waived by the Saints on Tuesday, Nick Underhill of The New Orleans Advocate reports.
Goodson was let go so the Saints could beef up their defensive line depth. He was brought in last week to serve as a depth corner and special teams contributor.

Saints' Demetri Goodson: Signs with New Orleans
Goodson signed with the Saints on Thursday, Josh Katzenstein of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Goodson was brought in last week for a workout with the Saints and was consequently signed Thursday. The 29-year-old cornerback recently played for Green Bay and has not seen NFL action since 2016. Goodson will look to provide depth to a Saints secondary that ranks 30th in the NFL in passing yards against per game this season (311).

Goodson ended the 2017 season on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. It's unclear if the hamstring is still bothering him at all, but his calf was what ultimately held him out recently in OTAs. There's no indication that his injury is serious and it isn't expected to impact him once training camp begins.

Goodson, who was activated off the PUP list on Wednesday, still isn't ready for game action quite yet. The Packers will be thin at cornerback with Davon House (shoulder) likely out and Kevin King (shoulder) recently placed on injured reserve, so expect Damarious Randall and Josh Hawkins to see plenty of work in Week 14.

Goodson was just activated off the PUP on Wednesday, so it's no surprise that it may take a while before the defensive back is ready to return to the field. There were murmurs earlier this week that Goodson would make his 2017 debut Sunday following a long recovery from surgery to address significant ligament damage to his left knee, but it appears the Packers want to have the cornerback put in some more practice time before returning to game action. His window for activation doesn't expire until Wednesday, so expect the Packers to make a transaction involving Goodson before then.

Packers' Demetri Goodson: Expected to play Sunday
Goodson (knee) is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. "It's unbelievable that I came back from that (injury), and I'm about to play, and playing the way I'm playing at practice right now," Goodson said. "It's all God. It's pretty amazing. It really is."
Goodson began practicing two weeks ago after spending the entire year on the PUP list due to a gruesome knee injury he suffered over a year ago. It is reported that the cornerback will be activated before Sunday's game and should take the field in some capacity. It seems unlikely the Packers will unleash a full workload on the fourth-year pro, but any reps Goodson receives Sunday should be viewed as major progress.

Goodson has spent the entire season on the Physically Unable to Perform list while recovering from a severe knee injury he sustained during the 2016 campaign. The cornerback's return to practice Wednesday opens a three-week window in which the Packers will have to either add him onto the 53-man roster or place him on season-ending injured reserve.
