Texans' Kerry Hyder: Joins Houston's roster
The Texans signed Hyder to the 53-man roster Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston reports.
Hyder was promoted from the practice squad and takes the roster spot of defensive end Dylan Horton, who was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list Thursday. The 32-year-old Hyder has prior familiarity with Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans, who served as the lineman's defensive coordinator in San Francisco.

Kerry Hyder: Let go by San Francisco
The 49ers released Hyder on Friday, per the team's official site.
San Francisco acquired Randy Gregory from the Broncos in a trade Friday and therefore needed to open up a spot on the roster. Hyder was consequently let go after logging one tackle (a sack) over the team's first four games. The veteran has recorded 22 sacks in his NFL career and may now seek an opportunity elsewhere.

Hyder (shoulder) stood out during Friday's 23-12 preseason loss to the Chargers, according to Kyle Madson of USA Today.
Hyder exited San Francisco's previous preseason contest with a shoulder injury, and he did not return to that game. It looks like this injury wasn't ultimately all that significant, as the 32-year-old still wrangled four tackles (two solo), one quarterback hit and a pass defended after he was subbed into Friday's contest. Hyder figures to provide San Francisco with some valuable depth at defensive end this coming season.
