The NFL reinstated Moore from suspension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Moore was suspended for violating the league's gambling policy last offseason, but he's now been reinstated by the NFL. The 28-year-old appeared in 56 games from 2019-2022, racking up 48 total tackles while primarily contributing on special teams. Detroit parted ways with Moore shortly after his suspension, so he's free to sign with any team now that he's reinstated.... See More ... See Less

C.J. Moore: Suspended for 2023 season and cut
The Lions cut Moore after the NFL announced Friday that he will be suspended indefinitely, minimum one season, for violating the league's gambling policy, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Moore was found to have bet on the NFL games, resulting in a minimum suspension of one season, after which he will be able to apply for reinstatement. Moore was one of five players suspended for violating the league's gambling policy Friday, with teammate Quintez Cephus and Shaka Toney of the Commanders also getting season-long suspensions for wagering on NFL games while Jameson Williams and Stanley Berryhill received six-game suspensions for betting on non-NFL contests. The safety will now have to set his sights on reinstatement and finding another team for the 2024 campaign.... See More ... See Less -
C.J. Moore: Parts ways with Detroit
The Lions waived Moore (lower leg) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Monday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Moore was in a walking boot late in training camp and landed on injured reserve last week. It's not yet clear when he's expected to be back to full health, but he'll be eligible to play in 2022 after reaching a settlement with Detroit.... See More ... See Less -
C.J. Moore: Waived with injury designation
Moore (lower leg) was waived/injured by the Lions on Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports. Moore has been dealing with an undisclosed injury to his lower back and was in a walking boot during the final week of training camp. If he goes unclaimed on waivers, the 26-year-old will revert to injured reserve. Meanwhile, the Lions enter Week 1 relatively short-handed at safety given the continued absence of Ifeatu Melifonwu (undisclosed).... See More ... See Less -
Lions' C.J. Moore: Ready for action
The Lions activated Moore off the team's active/NFI list Thursday, NFL.com reports. Moore is now eligible to fully practice and play this preseason after opening training camp on Detroit's active/non-football injury list with an undisclosed injury. The 26-year-old played a significant role as a specialist for Detroit last year, collecting 22 tackles across 299 special-teams snaps and 155 defensive snaps over 17 games, and he should provide additional depth in the team's secondary this regular season.... Lions' C.J. Moore: Re-signs with Detroit
The Lions re-signed Moore on Sunday to a one-year contract worth up to $2.4 million with $800,000 guaranteed, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Moore was a core member of the Lions' special teams last year, but he saw sporadic playing time on defense. However, he did play all 73 defensive snaps -- by far a season high -- during Detroit's Week 15 win over Arizona. He totaled 22 tackles (13 solo) and one interception across 17 appearances in 2021.... See More ... See Less -
Lions' C.J. Moore: Set to sit Sunday
Moore (calf) has been ruled out of Sunday's game versus the Saints, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports. Moore will sit out a second straight game and will aim to return after the team's bye week, Week 6 against the Jaguars. In the one game he played this season, Moore operated strictly on special teams, so his absence mainly hurts the defensive depth.... See More ... See Less -
Lions' C.J. Moore: Questionable against Cardinals
Moore (calf) didn't practice Friday and is considered questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports. Moore logged two limited sessions before sitting out completely Friday, so he may be trending in the wrong direction. Considering he hasn't played anything but special teams this year, his potential absence won't shake up the defensive dynamic against the Cardinals' Air Raid offense.... See More ... See Less -
Lions' C.J. Moore: Gearing up Sunday
Moore (heel) is active for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Chris Burke of The Athletic reports. Moore is primed for his usual role on special teams. He hasn't yet played a snap on defense this season.... See More ... See Less
