Jude Adjei-Barimah: Gets clean bill of health
Adeji-Barimah (knee) was cleared by his surgeon Tuesday to return to full football activities, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. The cornerback isn't expected to face any limitations during the Buccaneers' offseason program.
Adjei-Barimah suffered a patellar fracture in his right knee in training camp last August that ultimately required surgery, ending his 2017 season before it even began. The cornerback was initially waived/injured after being diagnosed with the knee issue, but later reverted to the Buccaneers' injured reserve list upon going unclaimed by the league's other 31 teams. A healthy Adjei-Barimah will be a restricted free agent when the new league year begins in mid-March, and there's a good chance the Buccaneers retain him after struggling to find quality depth options at cornerback last season.

Adjei-Barimah was originally tendered on Feb. 28 but didn't officially sign until Monday. The third-year corner logged 22 tackles, two sacks, two passes defensed, and a forced fumble in 10 games in 2016 over 290 defensive snaps, while adding 95 additional plays on special teams. Adjei-Barimah could face competition for the starting right cornerback job from free-agent signee Josh Robinson, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
The soon-to-be second-year pro was a surprise starter in the latter part of the season for the Bucs in 2015, finishing with 41 tackles (34 solo), two tackles for loss and a pass defensed. However, the Bowling Green product was inconsistent in coverage and finished the season as Pro Football Focus' 83rd-ranked corner. Robinson, who recorded five interceptions and 15 passes defensed over three seasons with the Vikings, brings a playmaking presence to a Bucs secondary that allowed the highest completion percentage (70%) to opposing quarterbacks last season and surrendered 31 touchdowns as a unit. Considering Adjei-Barimah gave up his fair share of big plays during his starting tenure, the Bucs figure to give Robinson every chance to compete for the top job in training camp.
