K.J. Brent: Let go by Tampa Bay
The Buccaneers waived Brent (undisclosed) from their injured reserve list Wednesday per the NFL's official transaction page.
Brent had resided on IR since Sept. 6, and it's still unclear what sort of injury he's dealing with. Once the Wake Forest product gets healthy, he'll be able to work out and sign with another team elsewhere around the league.

Buccaneers' K.J. Brent: Lands on IR

It's unclear what type of injury Brent is dealing with, but it's clearly serious enough to land him on injured reserve. The 26-year-old hasn't seen regular-season action since 2017, when he appeared in five games for Indianapolis but was unable to record any statistics.

The 25-year-old wideout spent time with the Colts' practice squad earlier this season, and he'd also worked out for the Packers in mid-November. With a solid 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame, the Bucs likely view Brent as an intriguing prospect that they'll hope to begin developing over the balance of the regular season and into the offseason.

Brent has drawn praise in training camp for his performance and it looks like he has the inside track on winning a final spot on the roster as a reserve receiver. He got playing time with the second-team offense during the game, which shows he may have an outside shot at the No. 3 or No. 4 receiver role.

It's notable that Brent is listed ahead of fifth-round draft pick Reece Fountain. However, that could be just because he's a veteran. Brent, an undrafted free agent from Wake Forest, played five games with the Colts last season but didn't have a reception and had just one target. Brent was attempting to secure the final receiver spot on the Raiders' depth chart but ultimately fell short. Quarterback Derek Carr praised his route running during training camp, so he figures to be strong candidate the team's practice squad. He could ultimately see some regular-season action should the team suffer any injuries at wide receiver.
