The Canadiens, in first place in the Atlantic Division with 70 points, finished their season series against Boston with a 4-0 loss Sunday night. Montreal has struggled recently, losing six of seven.
Julien, who also replaced Therrien as Canadiens coach during the 2002-03 season, will make his most recent Montreal debut Saturday against the Jets. He was fired as Bruins coach on Feb. 7 and replaced by assistant Bruce Cassidy, who has since led Boston to three straight wins.
Therrien has won 406 games in his 12-year NHL coaching career, including 271 in his two stints with the Canadiens. Julien, the winningest coach in Bruins history, has 538 career NHL victories.
