  • Drew Thorpe P | CHW

White Sox's Drew Thorpe: Likely making debut Tuesday

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Sunday that Thorpe is lined up to pitch against the Mariners on Tuesday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Thorpe has been dominant for Double-A Birmingham this season with a 1.35 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 56:17 K:BB over 60 innings, and he's expected to skip Triple-A Charlotte to make his MLB debut. A second-round pick of the Yankees in 2022 who was traded to the Padres in the Juan Soto deal and then flipped to the White Sox as part of the package for Dylan Cease, the 23-year-old righty has just 34 professional appearances under his belt.

  • Luke Raley LF | SEA

Mariners' Luke Raley: Sitting against lefty

Raley is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Raley will once again head to the bench as the Royals send a lefty (Cole Ragans) to the mound Sunday. Victor Robles will receive the start in left field while batting eighth.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | SEA

Mariners' Josh Rojas: On bench versus southpaw

Rojas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

The Mariners are facing a third left-handed pitcher (Cole Ragans) Sunday in the past four games, and Rojas hasn't started any of those three contests. Dylan Moore will receive another start at the hot corner while Ryan Bliss mans second base.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Absence continuing Sunday

Machado (hip) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Diamondbacks, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Machado continues to nurse a strained right hip flexor and will sit Sunday for the fourth straight game. The 31-year-old appeared as a pinch hitter in the first of those absences Thursday but otherwise hasn't seen game action since he suffered the injury Wednesday. Donovan Solano is receiving another start at the hot corner in the series finale against Arizona.

  • Alex Wood SP | OAK

Athletics' Alex Wood: Transferred to 60-day IL

Oakland transferred Wood (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Sunday.

Wood landed on the 15-day injured list May 13 with left rotator cuff tendinitis. He had progressed in his rehab to playing catch, but the 33-year-old southpaw will now be out of action until at least mid-July. Prior to the injury, Wood started in nine games, posting a 1-3 record with a 5.26 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 33:19 K:BB over 39.1 innings.

  • Athletics' Jack O'Loughlin: Optioned to Triple-A

The Athletics optioned O'Loughlin to Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday.

O'Loughlin was called up by the Athletics on May 25. The southpaw played well across his three outings with the big club, throwing seven shutout innings while giving up six hits and three walks and striking out three. The move corresponds with Oakland selecting right-hander Michel Otanez from Triple-A Las Vegas.

  • Robbie Ray SP | SF

Giants' Robbie Ray: Tracking toward mid-July return

Ray (elbow) is on track to return around the All-Star break, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Ray made his second rehab appearance with the Giants' rookie-level team Saturday, striking out five without allowing a baserunner over two innings. The southpaw began his rehab assignment June 4, and he could have it extended beyond the customary 30 days since he is returning from Tommy John surgery. Ray will likely make some of his rehab appearances in the higher levels of the minors later in the assignment.

  • Tommy Henry SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Tommy Henry: Recalled, could pitch Sunday

Henry was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Sunday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The left-hander has a 5.40 ERA in six starts for Arizona this season but has been at Triple-A Reno since late April. Henry is a likely bet to see some innings behind opener Scott McGough in San Diego on Sunday.

  • Mariners' Eduardo Salazar: DFA'd by Mariners

Seattle designated Salazar for assignment Sunday.

Salazar was claimed off waivers by the Mariners after being DFA'd by the Dodgers on May 20. He appeared in four games with Triple-A Tacoma, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out one over 3.1 frames.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Rejoining lineup Sunday

Moreno (illness) is starting behind the plate and batting eighth Sunday at San Diego.

The 24-year-old catcher was a late scratch Saturday due to an illness but is back in the lineup for Sunday's series finale. Moreno struggled to a .220/.292/.288 slash line during May but has rebounded early in June with a .761 OPS through seven contests.
