  • Kirby Yates RP | TEX

Rangers' Kirby Yates: Records eighth save

Yates allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two over one scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

This was Yates' first save since May 8, as opportunities have been few and far between for saves recently. He pitched four times between saves, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over three innings. The right-hander has eight saves, two holds, a 0.90 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 25:10 K:BB over 20 innings this season.

  • Trevor Megill RP | MIL

    Brewers' Trevor Megill: Avoids fracture

Manager Pat Murphy said after Tuesday's loss to the Cubs that Megill did not suffer a fracture on the line drive that hit his arm in the 10th inning, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.

It remains unclear whether or not Megill will need to spend time on the injured list, but the 30-year-old reliever seems to have avoided the worst. The righty has been operating as Milwaukee's primary closer with Devin Williams (back) on the injured list, though the ninth inning may be given to Hoby Milner or Joel Payamps if Megill is forced to miss time.

  • Jhoan Duran RP | MIN

Twins' Jhoan Duran: Gets out of jam for ninth save

Duran picked up the save Tuesday against Kansas City, allowing two hits and no walks with a strikeout over one scoreless inning.

Duran surrendered a leadoff double to Salvador Perez and then a single to Adam Frazier, putting runners on the corners with no outs in the ninth. However, pinch-runner Dairon Blanco was caught stealing second and Duran retired MJ Melendez and Nick Loftin back-to-back to keep the Royals off the scoreboard. After taking back-to-back losses in the middle of May, Duran has rebounded with five straight saves, yielding one earned run across 4.1 innings.

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Exits with injury

Megill was removed from Tuesday's game against the Cubs after getting hit in the right arm by a line drive, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Megill entered Tuesday's game in the 10th inning and threw three pitches to Mike Tauchman before getting taking a 99-mph line drive off his right (throwing) arm. Megill immediately came out of the game and will presumably head into the clubhouse for imaging. The Brewers should have more information on his status following Tuesday's contest.

  • Giants' Drew Pomeranz: Designated for assignment

Pomeranz was designated for assignment Tuesday.

Pomeranz had just joined the Giants on Friday after opting out of his minor-league contract with the Dodgers in April, but now his time in San Francisco is done without having made an appearance. The 35-year-old 's last big-league appearance was in 2021 for San Diego, and he's dealt with forearm and elbow injuries since. In eight Triple-A appearances this season, Pomeranz has a 6.00 ERA and a 14:1 K:BB across nine innings. In a corresponding move, Spencer Howard was selected from Triple-A Sacramento.

  • J.B. Bukauskas RP | MIL

Brewers' J.B. Bukauskas: Has upcoming bullpen

Bukauskas (triceps) will throw a bullpen Friday, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.

Bukauskas was transferred to the 60-day injured list May 10 due a right triceps strain that had originally been classified as a lat strain when he first hit the IL on April 14. If his bullpen session goes well, he could soon progress to what would figure to be a lengthy rehab assignment.

  • Elijah Morgan RP | CLE

Guardians' Eli Morgan: Activated from IL

The Guardians reinstated Morgan (shoulder) from the injured list Tuesday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Morgan landed on the injured list in mid-April due to right shoulder inflammation and began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Columbus on May 4. Since then, he's posted a 3.24 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 8.1 innings while striking out nine batters and walking six. The 28-year-old righty had been one of the more reliable members of Cleveland's bullpen before getting injured, though he figures to pitch in middle relief now that he's healthy. Xzavion Curry was optioned to Columbus in a corresponding move.

  • Erik Swanson RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Erik Swanson: Demoted to Triple-A

The Blue Jays optioned Swanson to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

After finishing with a sub-3.00 ERA in each of the past two seasons, Swanson has allowed 14 earned runs in 13.2 frames to begin the 2024 campaign. He's been trending in the right direction as of late, posting a 3.52 ERA across 7.2 innings since May 7, but he will head to Triple-A nonetheless to ensure that his struggles will be completely behind him by the time he pitches on a big-league mound again. Chad Green (shoulder) was reinstated from the injured list to take Swanson's roster spot.

  • Chad Green RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Chad Green: Reinstated and active

Green (shoulder) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list and will be available out of the bullpen in Tuesday's game versus the White Sox.

Green has been sidelined since mid-April with a right shoulder strain, and he was able to make three scoreless appearances with Triple-A Buffalo during his rehab assignment. The veteran had already returned to the Blue Jays' clubhouse in Chicago for the series opener Monday. In a corresponding move, Erik Swanson was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo.

  • Rangers' Yerry Rodriguez: Sent to Triple-A

Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning Newsreports.

Rodriguez has a 6.88 ERA in 12 outings this season and hasn't pitched in nearly a week, and he'll now make his way to the minors. He'll serve as organizational depth with Triple-A Round Rock.
