Rodriguez was officially released by the Yankees on Saturday and he will assume an advisory role within the organization.
Saturday night's game was Rodriguez's last with the Yankees, and likely his last as a professional. He will remain in the organization, as they still owe him around $25 million, but after the 2017 season, he will be free to do something else. Aaron Judge and Tyler Austin were recalled from Triple-A on Saturday as the Yankees continue the youth movement, and prospect Gary Sanchez figures to see the bulk of the playing time at DH going forward.
