Miller announced his retirement from baseball Thursday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

After struggling as a starter early in his career, Miller developed into one of the best late relievers in baseball during his prime. The southpaw played for seven teams across his 16 professional seasons and converted 63 of 80 save chances with 138 holds while posting a 4.03 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 612 appearances (66 starts).
