De La Cruz (0-2) allowed seven runs (four earned) on nine hits with four strikeouts in a loss Monday to the Phillies.
De La Cruz posted a quality start his first time out, but he was roughed up by the Phillies, as he gave up two homers, four doubles and a triple as part of his nine hits. He caught too much of the plate all day long -- he threw 57 strikes out of 83 pitches and didn't walk a single batter, but Philadelphia hitters punished his mistakes all day long. De La Cruz has allowed 16 hits and three home runs over 12 innings in his first two major league starts.
