Brewers' Eric Sogard: Coming up from Triple-A

The Brewers selected Sogard's contract from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday.

Sogard will serve as depth while Ryan Braun (calf) is on the 10-day disabled list. Preferring the 30-year-old utility infielder, Milwaukee didn't call up any of its top outfield prospects, including the exciting Lewis Brinson. Hernan Perez, Nick Franklin and Eric Thames will combine to fill in for Braun in left field. This especially helps Perez -- who should be picked up in most mixed leagues if only for increased opportunities to showcase his speed on the bases -- and could lead to more work for Jesus Aguilar at first base.
