Cardinals' Matt Adams: Will not start Monday

Adams is out of the lineup for Monday's series opener with the Padres.

Adams is hitting .264 with 10 home runs and 37 RBI on the season but will get the night off with southpaw Christian Friedrich on the mound for San Diego. The Cardinals will slide Matt Holliday to first base and insert Tommy Pham into the lineup in order to get as many right-handed hitters in the game as possible.
