Bettis (back) has retired from baseball, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.
He said he pushed his body as far as it could go and walks away from the game with his head held high. Bettis, 31, had a 5.12 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 431 strikeouts in 600.2 career innings, all with the Rockies.
