Negron (shoulder) signed a minor league deal with the Cubs on Friday, Baseball America's Matt Eddy reports.

The 29-year-old utility infielder goes from a perfect situation to get MLB at-bats in Cincinnati to perhaps the most loaded organization in baseball, so he could spend all of 2016 at Triple-A. He has a .220 average, six home runs and seven steals in 270 career big league plate appearances.
