Bumgarner has been officially diagnosed with a Grade 2 shoulder sprain, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports Friday.
Sprains aren't typically associated with two-month long rehabilitation periods, but it's important to remember "sprain" is just a fancy medical word for "tear." While Bumgarner won't need surgery, the injury he suffered is a severe one. Currently, the Giants have him on a tentative timetable shooting for a return near the All-Star break.
