Davis was released by the Yankees on Wednesday, Brendan Kuty of NJ Advance Media reports.

Over the last 10 days, Davis had gone just 5-for-32 with 12 strikeouts at Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre, bringing his batting average down to .248 for the season. At 29 years old and with a career MLB batting average of .239, Davis doesn't offer much upside to any team. If he's signed, it's likely that he'll simply provide additional depth at first base in the minor leagues.
