Miranda has made the Mariners' starting rotation, following the report that Drew Smyly would miss 6-8 weeks with an elbow strain, Shannon Drayer of MyNorthwest.com reports.

The southpaw put together an inconsistent spring, finishing with a 6.14 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP over 14.2 innings, so he'll need to improve quickly if he is to keep his starting spot. Regardless, Miranda showed flashes of dominance in 10 starts with Seattle last season en route to a 3.54 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and a 40:18 K:BB. The 28-year-old will seek to build upon that performance beginning next Thursday in Houston.
