Furbush will be tendered a contract by the Mariners on Wednesday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
The lefty altered his approach to hitters in 2015, pitching more to contact. While the strikeout numbers suffered, his overall numbers greatly improved thanks to a big increase in groundballs, with his ERA falling more than 150 points from 2014 (from 3.61 to 2.08). Some regression has to be expected given his .125 opponents' BABIP, but Furbush is effective against both lefties and righties and should open 2016 back in a setup role.
