Conforto received a cortisone shot in his left wrist Tuesday and he is optimistic about a return to the lineup by the end of the week, James Wagner of the New York Times reports.

Conforto underwent the cortisone shot Tuesday to treat strained cartilage in his left wrist. With that, he'll be sidelined for presumably a few more days to allow the shot to take its effect on his wrist. The Mets will host the Braves for a series over the weekend, which seems like the most realistic time frame for Conforto to return. Alejandro De Aza figures to continue starting in left field while Conforto is sidelined.
