Orioles' Brenan Hanifee: Drafted by Orioles with 121st overall pick

The Orioles have selected Hanifee with the 121st overall pick in the 2016 first-year player draft.

Hanifee was a pop-up arm this spring, as he was a three-sport star who all of a sudden started hitting the low 90s with his fastball. His basketball/football athleticism and the fact that he doesn't have as much wear on his arm as other prep hurlers makes him an intriguing pitcher to project. At 6-foot-4, there is a chance his fastball ticks up and his secondaries take a step forward now that he'll be focused solely on baseball.
