Padres' Jarred Cosart: Lands on DL with elbow injury

Cosart was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained right elbow.

It's unclear when this injury cropped up, but it may go to explain why he struggled so much in his most recent start Sunday. The severity is also unknown at this point, although since the DL stint was backdated to Monday, he'll first be eligible to return June 16 when the Padres take on the Brewers. To fill his spot on the roster, Jose Pirela was brought up from Triple-A, but a starter will likely need to be brought up from the minors to make his next scheduled start this weekend in Kansas City.
