Knapp is playing first base and batting sixth in the Phillies' Grapefruit League game Thursday.

Knapp is filling in for Tommy Joseph (hand), who continues to sit after being plunked by a pitch on his left hand Tuesday. The catcher has seen some work at first base this spring to keep him fresh. However, he recorded only one hit in his first 18 at-bats and worked on his swing with hitting coach Matt Stairs on Wednesday before taking a walk against Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman on Wednesday. Knapp is battling with Bryan Holaday to break camp as the backup catcher, though top prospect Jorge Alfaro may push him for reps behind Cameron Rupp sometime in the second half.
