Burriss was outrighted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

The Phillies began cleaning out their 40-man roster in preparation for December's Rule 5 draft, and they decided that they could cast Burriss off the 40-man after he hit for a mere .111 average in 50 plate appearances. The 31-year-old will likely act as organizational depth going forward.
