Nicolas was reassigned Tuesday to the minor-league side of Pirates camp.
No surprise here given that Nicolas spent all of 2022 at Double-A Altoona. The 24-year-old right-hander had thrown three scoreless innings so far in Grapefruit League play and could make the jump to Triple-A Indianapolis to kick off the 2023 campaign.
