Swihart was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's intrasquad game due to left thumb soreness.
It doesn't sound as if the issue is too serious, though it's not yet clear when Swihart is expected to return to action. Even if healthy, Swihart is unlikely to fill a major role for the Rangers this season, as he's hit just .243/.301/.355 over parts of five big-league seasons.
