Kela took the loss in relief and was charged with four earned runs on three hits and a walk over one inning in Tuesday's 8-7 loss to the Astros.

Kela had sported a spotless ERA over 6.1 innings entering play Tuesday, but was unable to protect the Rangers' 5-3 lead entering the eighth inning. The right-hander allowed three of the first four batters of the inning to reach base before serving up a grand slam to Marwin Gonzalez, which ultimately proved to be the difference in the game. The poor outing shouldn't result in Kela falling out of the late-inning mix entirely, but it doesn't look like he would be manager Jeff Banister's first choice for closing duties in the event Matt Bush is removed from the role at some point down the road.
