Guzman was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday, TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports.

This isn't too surprising, as Guzman was mainly added to the 40-man roster for Rule 5 protection. He did slash .288/.348/.477 with 15 homers at Double-A Frisco in 2016, earning himself a promotion to Triple-A as a 21-year-old. However, the production hasn't quite carried over to Triple-A yet, as he slashed just .216/.266/.330 in 25 games there. There was a chance he would fill the void at first base for the Rangers at some point in 2017, but it seriously dwindled with the signing of veteran Mike Napoli.
