Red Sox's Koji Uehara: Placed on 15-day DL Wednesday

Uehara (pectoral) was placed on the 15-day DL on Wednesday, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.

Uehara will hit the DL in the midst of what has been a disappointing 2016 season thus far. The 41-year-old owns a 4.50 ERA through 39 relief appearances, which is a significant step back when you consider he hadn't posted an ERA above 2.86 as a reliever since 2010. The Red Sox will hope Uehara can get back to his old self once healthy and have called up Noe Ramirez to take his place for the time being.
