Ramirez was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday, Evan Drellich of CSN New England reports.

He takes the spot of Robbie Ross, who was optioned down after allowing five earned runs combined over his past three appearances. It marks the second appearance with the Red Sox this season for Ramirez, as he threw 1.2 scoreless innings in a lone relief appearance earlier this season. The right-hander has compiled a 2.53 ERA over nine relief appearances in Triple-A this year, but will need to translate that performance to the majors if he wants to stay in the big leagues on a permanent basis.
