Garrett was placed on the 10-day disabled list Thursday with right hip inflammation.
The southpaw teased tantalizing upside early in the year but has fallen back to earth with a 6.00 ERA over eight starts. The Reds have planned on monitoring Garrett's workload as the former two-sport athlete continues to develop his baseball acumen, but he'll have to wait for his next chance as he goes on the mend.
