Garrett threw four perfect innings against the A's on Monday. He struck out three batters.

The 6-foot-5 lefty has just one earned run on his ledger through four Cactus League outings, with a 9:2 K:BB in 11.1 innings. He allowed seven hits, committed two errors (on the same play) and uncorked a wild pitch in a start last week, resulting in five unearned runs, but he bounced back in impressive fashion Monday. Garrett is building a strong case for a spot in a Reds rotation that will be without both Homer Bailey (elbow) and Anthony DeSclafani (elbow) on Opening Day.
