Royals' Edinson Volquez: Takes eight loss against Blue Jays

Volquez (7-8) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts over six innings in a loss Monday to Toronto.

Volquez has now allowed at least four runs in five of his past seven starts and has watched his ERA jump from 3.74 to 4.89 in that period. He was cruising until the seventh, when he gave up three of his four runs, including one he walked in. Control has been a huge problem for Volquez, as he has a brutal 28:17 K:BB over 38 innings in his cold stretch. Unless he can rein in his control, things aren't likely to get much better anytime soon.
